Does having a lot of money alone person make a person Happy? NO. definitely NO . but is it really NO? then why is it yes in our deeds? All of us want to make money to gain status, comfort and luxury. This money has brought; is bringing; and will bring so many differences between some of you and me. These differences will be later named as differences between the rich and the poor. One would experience happiness when a leads a luxurious life or when one has travelled around the world or when he had his meal in the most expensive hotel. Don't you feel I have missed out something in the above examples? yes, I have missed out the actual meaning of happiness. So - What exactly is happiness? Happiness is not actually leading a luxurious life but the luxury of living a peaceful ans content life. Happiness is not having a meal in the most famous restaurant but to have it with your most beloved family. Happiness is being sincerely able to wear a smile when you feel like crying. It is to shout at the top of your voice along with your family on the victory of Indian cricket team. Happiness is all about loving life. Chasing money will lead you nowhere because Money is like that shadow that tries to escape and runaway when we chase it; and chases us when we run away. Because money is like the sand which tries to escape more, the harder we try to hold it tightly within our fists. Therefore I feel money and happiness are not interrelated but chasing money and waste of time are in every way correlated. I feel one could not gain any thing more than what he is destined to. I feel that Money is only a Necessity but happiness is The Need of life. I feel it is now easy to answer the previous question; Is Money a Prerequisite For Happiness???

Now do you see how anxious and eager i am to see a new post in your blog?
It almost 2 in the morning, and my only companions are owls hooting sleepily.
Anyway, yes its true. Money isnt everything, but sadly, you cannot live without it, in today's money minded world.
Maybe there is a median path a person seeking true happiness could follow. . .

Hmm....well, to answer your question: No, Money is not a prequisite to Happiness....but it is important. Well, there is a famous saying that says "Money cant buy you happiness", but somewhere down the line, Money does allow you to buy a lot of stuff that you like and want, and that stuff indeed gives you happiness....so, Money does bring along a certain amount of happiness.

Turning to the other side now, I would say, we all run nd work hard everyday to earn money - the money, that would get us food, and clothing and stuff that we need and desire....Money indeed is important - for our happiness atleast. The least we can do is to use some of that money for a cause that woud bring a smile on someone else's face....then trust me....You will work even harder to earn that extra cash!

nice Q raised . yes money is not a prerequisite of happiness so but we consider so and though we know tat all the highly moneyed people are not really happy.we refuse to accept it.

Good question, and I raised a somewhat similar question in my earlier posts too.. happiness as you said, is in being with people you love. But if there is a shortage of money, that time is again restricted, because it becomes your responsiblity to keep them healthy and safe. So money isnt everything, but it a tool to ensure that we can be happier.

U r rght..happiness s loving life...loving urself...being sincerely content wth everythng u have...cherishing small joys of life...laughing till u get tears in ur eyes...NOT MONEY...

Happiness s within urself...not in the outer world...introspect 2 find ur bliss...

If you know how to handle money like everything, then it won't lead to despair. Money is a must, to live. But just money won't bring happiness. After all, the final thing every human being wants is peace and happiness. Some one, thinks, they'll get it if they have a luxurious car and after sometime when the newness fades they'll search for something else.

Money gives you status, name, fame, comfort, luxury a truly false sense of security. But it doesn’t give you a position in the society (by position, I mean, the name you earn for who you are rather than what you’re and a name for your deeds.
“ I feel one could not gain anything more than what he is destined to.” Beautifully said.

And my humble belief is happiness is a state of mind, you can be happy, and there’s no way that one can become happy.

Happiness is a being, while richness is a becoming! There’s a large difference

And Thanks for dropping by!!!

very provocative one... we say money cant buy happiness but then it is important enough because only when you dont have to worry about food and room and bills, only then you can concentrate on emotional part and on being happy.

I love your concepts on money, but I'm not sure whether the same can be said abt happiness...
Happiness differs from person to person,it depends on one's own individual principles in life, these principles mostly being related to the perception of self, if this perception is directly or indirectly based on money, then well,I'd say money and happiness are related.
While I believe tht chance plays a vital role in only those ppl's lives who don't see the power of self to turn every thing the encounter in their lives into a step ahead(such ppl are really really rare).

Thanks for visiting my blog n blogrolling me dude( i don't have a blogroll myself though,i somehow feel it goes against my nature!)

Wt a coincidence, just updated my blog on a related topic...lol

Well Arun I believe money is important, very important to be happy...but thts all cuz we have made it so...

Today, a 5 yr kid wud sleep only if AC is on while i still don use AC at home... and i remember the time we did not have the invertor and my mom used to put us to sleep using a hand fan. That did not need money but an AC does rite?...

Heart'n'Soul said...

to sum it up, its cuz we relate our happiness to materialistic things...nthn more nthn less :)

money is need of life...but a gud life needs money...i mean thoda jyada money.

wat i hav seen is..it is the major cause of many issues...so if u are financially fit n fine..u can hav gud life..(it dosent mean free frm sorrows)
everyone has its own share of sorrows in life!!

Anwesa said...

It depends on the amount of money I need. For example,I won't be happy to sleep on footpaths ,if i don't hav enuf money to pay my house rent.Likewise,a person who has taken a big bribe can nvr b at peace. So,the funda is,if u earn money by sheer dint of ur sweat,it leads to happiness n prosperity.

Money might be a pre-req for happiness, but it solely depends on the situation.
Money is only a Necessity but happiness is The Need of life. That is an awesome quote, I'm stealing it! =)

Money bn a pre requisite for happiness may depend upon the person who wud flaunt it sayn it to be the source of his happiness or the person who has lots but derives happiness from simple things....all a matter of perspectve..

well as the money increases so will your greed..that's a fact. You'll want to work more and more and will be more tense...so money can also make you more miserable.but When you’re richer, you can decide to work less—and spend more time with your friends.

Money is necessary to do things that you want to do like going on a world tour, with more money you will be able to buy that car or that house..and ya it makes you happy too.Don't lie now ..ok

There are other things in life apart from money which can make you happy like playing in rain (:D)...jumping around in small puddles of water in rain,or that look on your fathers face when you give him you first salary..what say?
i think money is not everything in life but see that you have enough of it.
